letter numero 11.

Hellloooo, howzit going? I got a few dearelders this week which was good but usually we don get those as much cuz they go to the mission office. So you can use that but letters are way better. Anyway, it sounds like everything is going well. Glad to hear katherine and verlan are killin it on the hill.. and Lauren too. claro.. So everything is great here. So in my district there are six of us. two other elders and two sisters. Their all on bikes and have small areas and then were in a car and have the biggest area in the mission. Its huge. But its good. we are the furthest south and west our mission goes. We have a lot of work to do. So the hermanas had a baptism yesterday with this awesome kid named danny. He's 21 and so awesome. Since he's 21, they asked him if he wanted he could serve a mission and he was like, "well if the Lord wants me too i will" haha how awesome is that?? so cool. Hes really cool. it was the first baptism in this district this year. I found out the success in this mission is actually kinda slow. The average was like 2 baptisms per missionary last year. And this mission use to be the highest baptizing mission stateside for a few years but Satan has really hit these people hard and the numbers have dropped off big time. Its interesting because the people here are extremely poor and still no one can get jobs, but that doesn't mean at all that they are humble. They are actually very prideful people, but they all do have a lot of faith which is cool to see. And pretty much every door we knock on, they'll at least let us in to talk because were teaching the "palabraa" haha. The members are amazing. The ward is kind of a miss though. Seems completely different from the DC 1st ward. They are all dying to have us over to feed us because hey think, in that way they are helping the work of the Lord, but were trying to get them to help us more with referrals and the actual work. And they have been stepping it up a ton. We had a lot of lessons this week with members there which is awesome. hahaha except the last one we had was a little bit of a backfire. The member starting teaching things that just.. are not true at all. HA it was a little awkward because we had to step in and say what he was saying was not true. haha cuz the important thing is that SHE knows and understands what were teaching. But we clarified everything for her. Her name is Esperanza. Shes so great. She says she knows the Book Of Mormon is true, that joseph smith was a prophet..everything. And she says she wants to get baptized. But she says she has to change some things in her life before she does it first. Like she's working at quitting coffee completely and stuff. Its good though because she understands the importance of all of this. Shes so great. O and Ana, the one who wants to get baptized too but her "husband", guy shes been with for over 20 yers and their still not married, he is the crazy one that hates us and stuff but we set up an appointment with him tomorrow!!! hahaha I'm so excited. its gonna be awesome. Were going to plan a lot and were bringing the ward mission leader who's an awesome guy. So yesterday was an interesting sunday. it rained sooo much, I've honestly never seen anything like it. There was flooding everywhere. like it was nuts. The roads looked like rivers. haha i got some good pictures. But it was so bad that a lot of people didn't come to church, and only one of our investigators came. And 8 were planning on it. So that was a bummer. But were working on it. There are wayy too many missionaries out here who are lazy. A lot more than i was expecting. I Don't get it. So Were working extra hard trying do the work and not waste ANY time. I'm still trying to figure out how to use our time in the best ways that we can. (Which I'm learning more and more is through the members.) We have a lot of work to do but I'm excited. I hope I'm in this ward and area for awhile so i can help it out more. But anywayy, all is well and is great here. WE have a ton of work to do which is great. haha So I'm kinda hoping for like an earthquake or something here so that the people get humbled and actually listen to us more. hahah is that bad? haha anywayyyy. The gospel is true! Love you all !
Love, Elder Foulger
