hollaaaaa,
how is everyone?? i forgot to give y'all my address so i haven't heard anything yet. Hope all is well. Heard about that earthquake and tsunami.. crazy! these really are the last days. anyway, I'm here! ahhh its so awesome, i love it. The flight was awesome, i sat next to this lady named debbie who was faking to be asleep because she didn't want to talk to me about the gospel. haha it was hilarious. but the first day was great. The president picked us all up and we met his wife at the mission home and had lunch. It was really cool. Their like the nicest people ever and Sister Martin is pretty much Mrs. Claus. haha but then we did a bunch of paperwork stuff then met our trainers! haha mine is sooo awesome! a huge answer to prayers. His name is Elder Longhurst. Its his second to last transfer so i'll PROBABLY be his last companion. He's so great though, hes very obedient and we work all day. He's way funny. SO our area is called Camino Real, which is the furthest west our mission goes. So were about 15 minutes from downtown LA.. apparently. But we don't go there because its not our mission. But its so awesome here. So we eat at members houses every night and they feed us SOOOO MUCH. i seriously almost threw up last night at the dinner table because we ate so much. its nuts. And they get CRAZY offended if you don't say yes to eating everything. its bizarre because I'm just use to saying like "o no I'm good" but like you don't say that here. haha I'm gonna get so fat. My companion has already gained like 25 pounds. haha I'm coming back fat for sure. but the food is soooo good. haha i love it. we eat tons of meat, beans, rice, pupusas, tortilla's.. ahhh its awesome. anywayyyyy I'm getting off track. So Satan has got a real hold on the people here. seriously. But its still great! cuz like everyone is still really nice. Well, at least the hispanics. When we knock doors, we almost always get let in just cuz their all somewhat religious and want to feed us cuz were "teaching the palabra" hahaha wherever we go people are like o yeaaa, la palabra! haha its hilarious. the palabraaa. la palabra de Dios! HAHA SO our favorite area to go is known as "tijuanita." haha its awesome. a bit sketchy but the people love us there and we get a lot of teaching opportunities. We just took over the sister area though so we pretty much have two areas. So we've been following up on a lot of their old investigators. Were like some of the only people with a car because apparently my companion doesn't know how to ride a bike. haha not even kidding.. who can't ride a bike???? haha the president told me he tried to teach him and stuff but it didn't work. haha so anyway were in a car. So we have some AWESOME investigators. ahhhhh their so great. So one is Anna. She lives in our apartment building and knows the lessons. We taught her the third and she loved it. She wants to get baptized and everything BUT, there's opposition in all things soooo.. her "esposo" is a huge jerk. ugh i can't stand him. Their not married but have been together for 21 years and have like 3 kids. She like sneaks out to talk to us. haha shes awesome. So he told her that if she gets a job, he'll marry her, so we were gonna fast with her to find a job and then she told us she's over him, and all that, she's moving out and working for her friend. She says its a new part of her life and shes really excited. The only thing is were not sure if that's the best thing because she does have like 2 kids at home and we don't want her to leave them so were talking to her tomorrow to figure out whats best for her and her family. ughh but her "esposo" is terrible. she said he wants to beat us up haha but i saw him, he's like 5 ft tall and has a huge mustache. hahaha but don't worry mom, nothing is gonna happen. O and the other day she got pupusas for us and some other missionaries and he wouldn't take her to pick up the food and then he locked her inside and didn't let her out to eat with us. haha, guys a loser. I really wanna talk to him but my companion doesn't think its the best thing. idk. and then there's Esparanza, who's soooo great! shes really nice, and lives in a nicer part of town. She's been coming to church and like participates in class and stuff and knows it. She's really close to being baptized. Were gonna talk to her about a date next time. O and our last lesson with her was amazing. and really funny, we did it at the chapel with the ward mission leader who is the MAN!!! seriously amazing. We sat down and he just went off, like almost yelling the gospel.. i guess its just the way they talk ya know? and we pretty much just sat back and let him. We would like clear things up here and there or like share a scripture but this last one was all him and she loved it. it was pretty cool. and then there's frederico who we met last night. He lives with some members and is really cool. We had an awesome lesson last night, he says he knows the book of Mormon is true and that Joseph smith was a prophet, but he's not sure enough to get baptized because he's still into the Catholicism. It was a bit funny because he said he knew it was true and stuff. Its just that changing from being catholic is such a huge thing for these people because its such a huge part of their culture. So we explained what knowing that the book of Mormon really means and decided he needs a stronger testimony of it so he's reading and praying and we meet with him in two days. so I'm excited about that. And there's some more but i don't have too much tie to talk about them. But 4 of our investigatos cam to church yesterday which is soooo cool. !!! o dad were teaching a lady from Bogota too. She loved it when i told her you served there. ugh and her Spanish is so great, its so much easier to understand. UGH i wish y'all could have seen some of the situations we were in this last week, they were priceless. We went to this one house and they had a creeepy dog and when we opened the gate it ran out! hahaha so i was like running down the street trying to heard this scary dog back while my companion was on the phone with the person who's dog it was. hahaha it was so funny. eventually i hearded it back but it was wayyyy creeepy so i didn't want to touch it. haha classic. o and if y'all saw some of the places were teaching lessons you wouldn't believe it. There are some bizarre people here. haha but great people. anyway, I'm out of time but all is well, the gospel is true and i love it here! love you all !
